African socialism
African Socialism is a collection of writings that examines the emergence of the concept of African-style socialism in the early years of African independence. Edited by William H. Friedland and Carl G. Rosberg, Jr., this book explores how African leaders such as Nyerere, Senghor, and Nkrumah combined traditional values, communal social structures, and modern aspirations to develop political ideologies distinct from European socialism. Through historical, political, and sociological analysis, this book examines the variations in African models of socialism, the obstacles to implementation, and their role in the formation of national identity and postcolonial state-building. This work serves as an important reference in the study of African politics and the development of world ideologies in the 20th century
