The Mystical world of Indonesia: Culture & economic development in conflict
The Mystical World of Indonesia was written by Allen M. Sievers and published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 1974. This work examines the dynamics of Indonesian culture and how traditional values interact, conflict, and even transform through the currents of modernization and economic development during the New Order. Sievers highlights aspects of mysticism, value systems, leadership patterns, and social structures in Indonesian society and how all of them influence the direction of national development. Using an anthropological and sociological approach, this book provides an in-depth analysis of the conflict between traditional cultural structures and state development policies. This work is an important reference in understanding the relationship between culture, economics, and social change in Indonesia.
