A Communist revolutionary movement as an international state-actor: The Case of the PKI-Aidit
The book A Communist Revolutionary Movement as an International State-Actor: The Case of the PKI-Aidit examines the role of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) under the leadership of D.N. Aidit as a political actor that was not only influential in Indonesia's domestic dynamics, but also active in the international political arena. Through an analysis of the PKI's relations with communist countries, especially China and the Soviet Union, and its involvement in the global revolutionary movement network, this book highlights how a non-ruling political party could act as a state actor in informal diplomacy, ideological exchange, and international political strategy. This study provides a new perspective on the PKI's position in the Cold War, reveals the complexity of Aidit's political maneuvers, and shows how revolutionary movements can build transnational influence. This work is relevant for researchers of international politics, Cold War history, and studies of communist movements in Southeast Asia.
