Text
Capitalism, socialism and India
The book makes a comparative study of the two competitive systems—capitalism and socialism—and shows the irrelevance of the former and the relevance of the latter to India. Capitalism is discussed in its three phases: birth, growth and decay. Socialism is described as a system promising a happy and prosperous future for the teeming millions of the world.
There may be various models of socialism. The author, however, mainly draws on the Soviet Model, which tells about the heroic struggle of the first socialist country that history has witnessed.
Against this background is lucidly traced the democratic, humanistic and socialist heritage of the Indian national movement that has given rise to a growing Indo-Soviet Friendship and Economic Cooperation, which has come as a powerful lever for building a modern India, wherein the future generations will enjoy the fruits of socialism.
This work, based on historical, analytical and statistical methods, is meant for the general readers but it will be equally useful to the generalists as well as to the specialists. The treasure of references are a guide to further studies. We hope this book will be warmly welcomed not only in India but also throughout the English-speaking world.
