Of course, they will tell you about the sun and the golden beaches fringed with foam, the refreshing and fragrant breeze known locally as the “alizé,” and the coves filled with
birds and flowers, where adventurers and poets alike can find their sweet spot.
What they don't tell you is that there is above all plenty of sunshine in the hearts of the women and men of this country, which is so endearing if you know how to go about it.
Go there, free yourself from clichés, prejudices, and certainties, and put a smile in your eyes. You will then discover a kindness that will touch your heart, a helpfulness and respect for others that we thought had disappeared.
As a Senegalese proverb says
"T'homme est le remède de l'homme" and natural good humor, wit, and courage are the answers to the challenges of our time, from these people who so easily combine tradition and modernity, rootedness and openness, as they say there.
