Poemes
Poèmes is a collection of poems by Léopold Sédar Senghor that reflects the aesthetic and philosophical foundations of the Négritude movement, which he conceived together with African and diaspora intellectuals. In this work, Senghor expresses the African experience through poetic, rhythmic, and lyrical French, emphasizing the beauty of African culture, the dignity of black people, and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Themes such as identity, colonialism, independence, spirituality, and nostalgia for the homeland are strongly present in his poetry. Poèmes is an important example of the fusion between African oral tradition and modern French literature, making this work a major milestone in Francophone literature and postcolonial studies.
