The golden warisan Brunei Darussalam
Do you know in Brunei we used to have a festival called 'berjanawari'? Or that the Brunei word for great-great-great grandparents is the same as the action describing shaking your head? Or that Brunei's largest export used to be derived from mangrove trees? Or that 'Hua Hui' a gambling game was widely played in Brunei? Or the many facts that you have never known about Brunei?
This is the second compilation of articles of the history of many aspects of Brunei ranging from when Brunei was a maritime empire in the region to today. No subject matter is too small or too big for the author as long as it is about Brunei.
These articles written by Rozan Yunos were published in the Golden Legacy, a weekly column in one of Brunei's national newspaper, The Brunei Times throughout 2008.
Rozan Yunos is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development and writes about Brunei history in his spare time.
