Do you know in Brunei we used to have a festival called 'berjanawari'? Or that the Brunei word for great-great-great grandparents is the same as the action describing shaking your head? Or that Brunei's largest export used to be derived from mangrove trees? Or that 'Hua Hui' a gambling game was widely played in Brunei? Or the many facts that you have never known about Brunei?
​This is the second compilation of articles of the history of many aspects of Brunei ranging from when Brunei was a maritime empire in the region to today. No subject matter is too small or too big for the author as long as it is about Brunei.
​These articles written by Rozan Yunos were published in the Golden Legacy, a weekly column in one of Brunei's national newspaper, The Brunei Times throughout 2008.
​Rozan Yunos is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development and writes about Brunei history in his spare time.
