The Bangladesh papers
The Bangladesh Papers is a collection of recorded statements, speeches, and important political declarations by key leaders from 1969–1971, including Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and General A.M. Yahya Khan. Published by Vanguard Books Ltd., this book collects their public speeches and political pronouncements during the critical years leading up to the partition of Pakistan and the proclamation of Bangladesh's independence. It covers arguments, negotiations, and confrontations on issues such as autonomy for East Pakistan, political power-sharing, the Six-Point Movement, and the tensions that ultimately led to the 1971 Liberation War. Through these primary source materials, readers gain deep insight into the motivations, justifications, and political rhetoric of key actors, as well as a deeper understanding of how Bangladesh emerged from the conflict and how the leadership on both sides of Pakistan viewed the crisis.
