Strategic utilization of state-owned assets at Indonesian Missions Abroad as an integral part of strengthening diplomatic infrastructure
The strategic utilization of State-Owned Assets (Barang Milik Negara /BMN)at Indonesia’s missions abroad offers a valuable opportunity for the Country to enhance its diplomatic infrastructure, generate non-tax state revenue (PNBP), address specific long-standing issues such as “idle-BMN” and cafeteria operations, and strengthen its diplomatic posture. Therefore, the pivotal question of this Taskap is “How can Indonesia optimize the strategic use of BMN abroad to achieve this objectives?”
A case study of BMN in Amsterdam illustrates the financial potential of strategically utilizing under-utilized assets abroad. By selectively renting this property, Indonesia could generate substantial revenue. Conversely, in the same city, several Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises(BUMN) incur significant rental expenses. Therefore, providing space within the property could reduce these costs and allow for more strategic use of BMN, highlighting potential cost savings and efficiency gains.
