The future foreign policy of Indonesian health diplomacy

Vita Novianti - Nama Orang;

Although in most countries the number of patients and death rates from COVID-19 can be suppressed, it does not mean that the world is free from the pandemic. Currently, most countries are also still struggling to recover their economy and try to get back on track on their commitment in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Various parties agree that the possibility of the world being hit by a pandemic is certain. The mystery is when and how severe the impact will be. Therefore, countries must continuously strive to improve the resilience of their health systems and develop related policies so that their country will be ready to face the challenges of a pandemic in the future.

In the future, health-related challenges will not only be limited to human-to-human-transmitted. Challenges will also come from the possible transmission of diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans and from the environment to humans. For this reason, appropriate government policies are needed to be able to handle this health issue comprehensively and thoroughly.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Government of course must always be relevant to continue to be agile and responsive to various challenges in the future, especially in this case related to developing health resilience. Unfortunately, at this time there is no direction for Indonesia's foreign policy related to health diplomacy that can become a guide to anticipate the complex developments of international and global dynamics related to health issues and their impact on people's lives at large

This paper explores and analyses the future foreign policy of Indonesia health diplomacy using primary and secondary data. It also look to the future so that Ministry of Foreign Affairs, can stay relevant and contribute positively to the development of national health resiliency and global cooperation on health architecture.
