The future of Indonesia-Brazil partnership: Redefining priority areas of cooperation amid the global challenges
Indonesia and Brazil represent strong middle powers where both could utilize every opportunity to enhance strategic partnership. Both are important players in the region, politically and economically and both are also members of the G20.
The disruption of global supply chain in food and energy caused by the Covid 19 pandemic and the Ukraine war has proven that enhancing diplomatic dialogue is the key to address the ongoing and future uncertainties in the international system. Over fourteen years, the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Brazil has played an important role in enhancing political dialogue, boosting trade as well as responding various issues of the interest to both countries.
As one of the most populous countries in the world, addressing food and security is very essential, for the future of the nation will be determined by the resiliency in food and energy.
This paper aims at proposing policy recommendation in redefining priorities of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brazil in response to food and energy security. This paper proposes recommendation based on scenario planning, taking into account the driving force in the national and global context.
