Connecting and reconnecting bilateral relation through charter flight program: Paving way to boost Indonesia's inbound tourism from New Caledonia
There is untapped potential for inbound tourism from New Caledonia., especially from Indonesian diaspora in New Caledonia. The current lack of direct flights and limited marketing efforts have hindered growth in this sector. Implementing a charter flight program between Indonesia and New Caledonia presents a viable solution to stimulate tourism cq. charter tourism. By establishing direct connections, the journey becomes more accessible and appealing to New Caledonian travelers. This program can be complemented by targeted marketing campaigns to showcase Indonesia's diverse attractions.
By implementing these policy choices and recommendations, Indonesia can effectively leverage the potential of the charter flight program to boost inbound tourism from New Caledonia, contributing to economic growth, cultural exchange, and strengthened bilateral relations. Several policy options to be advised by Indonesia are as such: (i) focus on strengthening bilateral relations as the foundation of cooperation which will give positive impacts on the tourism sector (cooperative engagement), (ii) focus on strengthening bilateral relations as the foundation of cooperation which will promote a broader scope of cooperation in the tourism sector (anticipative engagement) and (iii) focus on strengthening bilateral relation as the foundation of cooperation which will promote a broader spectrum of cooperation in tourism sector, aided by the Indonesian Mission in Noumea. Advisor to the Minister on Socio,. Cultural and Indonesian overseas and Directorate of Pacific and Oceania (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and hospitality industry (strategic engagement). Given the present global conditions, the most likely policy option for the short and medium term is Policy no. 3 (strategic engagement) in which global conditions had improved but the government needed to set up a foundation that involved a large amount of budget to carry out coordination and promote tourism of Indonesia in New Caledonia.
By implementing this charter flight program and supporting initiatives to promote Indonesian tourism, the government and tourism industry can unlock the significant potential of the New Caledonian market and contribute to the overall growth of the country's tourism sector.
