National semiconductor industry: Tangible economic diplomacy amidst supply chain dynamics

The economic diplomacy efforts conducted by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have yielded significant results, such as Indonesia’s successful leadership in the G20. However, the country’s economic strength in the semiconductor sector is not yet evident. Indonesia is now behind other Asian countries in the semiconductor field. The question arises: how can economic diplomacy contribute to realizing the national semiconductor industry development plan?

This article examines the concept of economic diplomacy, focusing on two aspects. First, the economic diplomacy must be able to assess geopolitical and geo-economic conditions and changes. Second, it should recognize the importance of the developed industrial sector.
