Indonesia’s diplomacy for the protection and promotion of women's rights as an agent of peace in Afghanistan
One of the countries that Indonesia has been contributing to the peace process is Afghanistan. Indonesia remains committed to supporting the peace process in Afghanistan despite uncertainty surrounding the new Taliban regime that took control over the country. Indonesia has provided support for Afghan women's empowerment and actively advocates for better fulfillment and welfare of women’s rights in Afghanistan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, HE Retno Marsudi has conducted and attended dialogues and meetings to help strengthen women’s empowerment in Afghanistan and emphasize the importance of it in the peace process in the region during Ashraf Ghani’s regime, and even after the Taliban Regime. Indonesia’s commitment to the protection and promotion of women’s rights in Afghanistan is a unique thing to analyze.
The writer argues that Indonesia plays a key role in championing this issue to achieve regional stability and to strengthen Indonesia's regional and global position in creating peace in conflict areas. This paper will provide an analysis of Indonesia’s role and background, and the importance and urgency of Indonesia’s diplomacy for the protection and promotion of women's rights towards the peace process in Afghanistan.
