Leveraging golden years of partnership: Making the MoFA’s intermestic strategy in advancing EVs industry cooperation with ROK

This paper attempts to explore the commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of bilateral relations between Indonesia and ROK under the theme of "Closer Friendship, Stronger Partnership” as an opportunity for the MOFA to potentially contribute in advancing the EVs cooperation between the two countries. The pivotal question to be answered in this paper is, “In fully harnessing the momentum of golden years of partnership, how can the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia contribute to advancing EVs cooperation with Republic of Korea through its mandate?"

By analysing the dynamics of cooperation with pull and push factors, mapping modalities of Indonesia – ROK bilateral relationship and current challenges, an intermestic-based approach strategy called "Synergistic Coordination" is proposed as a tool for MOFA in contributing to the advancement of cooperation. This strategy places a strong emphasis on leveraging the bilateral relationships' modalities while recognizing the importance of integrating and coordinating the diverse stakeholders involved. It strengthens the relevance of MOFA in navigating Indonesian diplomacy, particularly in the field of economic diplomacy, and positions the country's foreign policy as a bridge between the international and domestic spheres.
