Semiconductor industry’s role in to trade situation in the Asia Pacific region, and Indonesia’s appropriate response
The intensifying trade tensions between the United States and China in the semiconductor industry have significant implications for the Asia Pacific region. Taiwan, as a crucial hub for chip manufacturing, has become a concern point in this dispute.
Indonesia's limited role and dependency on the semiconductor supply chain have been exposed by the recent chip shortage crisis. The reliance on a few countries for semiconductor supply raises concerns about dependency and its economic repercussions.
To address these challenges, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) should embrace a policy of neutrality and pursue stability. Anticipating the company's diversification activity and attracting it to invest in Indonesia. Indonesia can strategically position itself as a neutral ground while fostering a business-friendly environment and minimizing the impact of further polarization of tension escalation between China and the United States.
