Indonesia: The bloodbath that was
This book is a revised edition of Indonesia: The Second Greatest Crime of the Century and discusses the political tragedy of 1965–1966, which led to the mass killing of hundreds of thousands of people accused of having ties to the leftist movement. Deirdre Griswold examines the involvement of international political powers, the dynamics of the Cold War, and the role of the Indonesian military in the downfall of Sukarno and the rise of the New Order regime. The book seeks to present an alternative narrative of one of the darkest episodes in modern Indonesian history and stands as one of the earliest works to challenge Western perspectives on the 1965 tragedy.
