This book, therefore, and I (like the authors before me) will attempt to help students learn to accomplish specific tasks especially reading, speaking, and writing. This book aims to develop the student's ability to use the language in purposeful acts of communication. Students must be made to realize that language as a tool of communication must be diligently learned.

The text also provides the students with a follow-up of his English I lessons (repeating those which the students find difficult to master) reinforcing them with new exercises and tasks provided at the end of each lesson to give the students the opportunity to put into practice the principles they have studied to make learning effective and the inclusion of lessons primarily reserved for sophomore students in the last chapter of the text.
