The Pakistan army 1998 edition: With a new foreword and epilogue
The Pakistan Army is the first comprehensive study of one of the Third World's most important armies. In this book, Professor Cohen draws upon his extensive earlier work on the military history of the subcontinent, recent visits to major Pakistani military schools, training centers, units in the field, and lengthy interviews with dozens of Pakistani army officers, both active and retired. Cohen examines and analyzes the social origins of the officer corps (the 'brains' of the army), the army's role in domestic politics, Pakistan's nuclear intentions, Islamization of the military, Pakistan's sensitive geopolitical position, its relations with the United States, and the possibility of a strategic rapprochement with India.
