The paper examines the application of international treaties in the People's Republic of China. It is the first fundamental study of its kind in a Western language. When analyzing the domestic implementation of international treaty obligations, the law of the World Trade Organization is taken into account as well as the treaties protecting human rights. The paper comes to the conclusion that the complex mechanism that controls the domestic application of international treaty law in China opens up many opportunities for the law enforcement bodies to reduce the effectiveness of the domestic implementation of international law obligations.
