Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 40 of 1999 concerning the press

The sanctioning of Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press is essential since the Law shall govern the Press, which include, the printed media, electronic media and other media, to function maximally as mandated in Article 28 of the 1945 Constitution. Thus, the maximum function of the Press will be needed because the freedom of the Press is a materialization of the people's sovereignty and constitutes an important element in a democratic life of the society, nation, and state.
