Closing the gap of infrastructure financing: Defining the role of diplomacy
The debate about the need for Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) to be established in 2024 has brought further discourse about whether a country like Indonesia needs to focus more on immediate needs during this troubling time and forsake the need for long-term goals such as infrastructure. This paper will dwell on the discourse of whether Indonesia needs to abandon its infrastructure development due to the pandemic. The paper will try to argue that there are several goals that will be impacted negatively if we do not pursue infrastructure.
The paper will also suggest several challenges as well as opportunities in closing the infrastructure financing gap in Indonesia. Scenarios and trends will also be going to be provided to have better options in terms of policies and recommendation
