Utilizing talent pool on overseas assignment process
Based on the current regulations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia is building an ASN talent management or talent pool, with its' main objective is to have a collective data management in order to establish a national civil servant's information system. The talent pool must be use to bolster the implementation of merit system, career path, succession plan, and competency development of every civil servant. This also in line with the 4+1 foreign policy strategy for 2019-2024 which stated during the Minister for Foreign Affairs Regulation's annual press conference in 2020, to strengthen Indonesia's diplomatic infrastructure.
Due to the wide range of the use of talent pool, this paper will be limited to argue the importance of talent pool only for the diplomat's overseas assignment process. The analysis on this paper was based on data and information gathered from interviews with the people in charge of the collecting and implementing the talent pool in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
