Optimizing the utilization of social media and big data as tools of economic diplomacy
The use of social media and big data can significantly support Indonesia's efforts in conducting economic diplomacy. It's critical to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats and create mitigation plans for them. Indonesia could improve its economic diplomacy efforts and accomplish its objectives by adopting a balanced strategy and using technology in addition to conventional diplomatic techniques.
The strategy should also highlight the importance of responsible and ethical use of these tools consistent with diplomatic norms and practices. Therefore, social media and big data offer significant benefits for Indonesia's economic diplomacy efforts when used strategically.
There are two concrete recommendation for this issue:
First, create and implement a comprehensive plan for exploiting social media platforms. To do this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should improve its social media staff and optimize its Digital Command Center (DCC). This social media team has to take more initiative in managing official social media accounts, interacting with the public more, spreading pertinent data regarding Indonesia's economic strengths, and identifying investment prospects.
Second, create a website for economic diplomacy. Establish a centralized online resource, such as a website or online platform that offers up-to-date details on Indonesia's economy, commercial possibilities, and trade policies. By giving foreign stakeholders, firms, and investor quick access to pertinent information and promoting investment in Indonesia, this platform can act as a resource center for them.
By implementing these policy, will enable the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives abroad to harness the power of social media and big data as potential tools for economic diplomacy, facilitating increased investment, trade, and economic cooperation for Indonesia
