Economic diplomacy curriculum powered by a dynamic learning and development model: promoting skills and attitude shift

Prima Januar Sastrawiria - Nama Orang;

Today, diplomacy is no longer limited to high-level political and security matters. Today's international agenda is frequently determined by the economy, trade, investment, migration, technology, and the environment. For diplomats, such dynamics necessitate a fresh strategy and a set of knowledge and skills. Indonesia's foreign policy goal for the last five years, as proclaimed by the President and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, is economic diplomacy. As a result, all of the country's diplomatic players must adhere to such policy and equip themselves with the necessary information, competence, and attitude.

Diplomatic training is one of the most prevalent programs for developing knowledge and skills. The Center of Education and Training (CET) is in charge of conducting capacity-building programs for Ministry officials, diplomats, and staff. The economic diplomacy curriculum is already incorporated into all educational and training programs. Nonetheless, the curriculum is thought to be substantial on the knowledge side. Meanwhile, economic diplomacy is frequently linked with concerns in connection with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, which requires a competitive advantage based on ability and attitude rather than information.

As a result, this article suggests the Learning and Development Model as an option to strengthen the economic diplomacy curriculum. This model will place a greater emphasis on the curriculum's skill and attitude components. Hopefully, such a plan will result in high- quality human resources (officials, diplomats, and employees) for the Ministry to get a better grip on the Economic Diplomacy issues.
