Text
The politics of international economic relations
In this fourth edition the writer have added new material that reflects both the academic changes and the events in the years since the third edition was published. For example, the monetary chapter explores efforts at exchange rate management since the Plaza and Louvre agreements, the trade chapters examine issues being negotiated in the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations, the chapters on multinational corporations discuss the more critical attitude toward foreign investment in the United States and the more receptive policies in developing countries, and the chapter on oil explores the decline of OPEC. Similarly, a new chapter on financial flows to developing countries analyzes private bank lending and the less-developed country (LDC) debt crisis, and the East-West chapter includes an analysis of Mikhail Gorbachev's perestroika as well as a new section on China.
