Gender mainstreaming in Indonesia’s climate policy and diplomacy
This study examines gender mainstreaming in Indonesia’s climate policies and its implications for climate diplomacy. It analyses gender-responsive climate adaptation, women’s representation in leadership and decision-making, and opportunities to strengthen gender equality in climate governance. Using scenario planning, the study identifies policy options for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including enhancing the capacity of female climate negotiators, promoting gender-responsive climate policies through Indonesian diplomatic missions, and strengthening cooperation with developing countries in the Pacific and Africa. These efforts aim to advance gender equality and reinforce Indonesia’s role in international climate cooperation.
