Optimizing international cooperation to strengthen Indonesia’s health resilience: making Indonesia as the centre of excellence for covid-19 vaccines manufacturing
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of national health resilience in responding to global health crises. In this context, Indonesian diplomacy has played a role in securing access to medicines, vaccines, diagnostic tools, therapeutics, and medical supplies through bilateral and multilateral cooperation. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to strengthen national health resilience, which also requires domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of strengthening Indonesia’s health resilience through enhanced COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing capacity and to formulate relevant policy recommendations. It employs a qualitative approach through literature reviews and interviews. The analysis is expected to support the development of Indonesia’s vaccine manufacturing capabilities and the establishment of Indonesia as a center of excellence for COVID-19 vaccine production, thereby improving preparedness for future pandemics.
