Indonesia’s positive image: dealing with negative perception towards Indonesia in the pacific region
This paper examines Indonesia’s Pacific Elevation Policy and the challenges posed by negative perceptions of Indonesia among communities in the Pacific region. It highlights the need to strengthen public engagement and regional connections, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper recommends establishing a youth engagement platform, strengthening Melanesian and Polynesian ties, enhancing Indonesia’s diplomatic presence, and mobilising program alumni to promote Indonesia. These measures aim to improve Indonesia’s image and foster stronger, mutually beneficial relations with Pacific countries.
