Strengthening Indonesia's blue economy diplomacy toward a resilient Indonesian economy
Indonesia’s strategic position as an archipelagic country with abundant marine resources provides significant opportunities to develop its blue economy. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed economic vulnerabilities to external shocks and created challenges for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, blue economy diplomacy plays an important role in strengthening economic resilience through bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation. This study aims to analyze strategies and policy recommendations for strengthening Indonesia’s blue economy diplomacy. The discussion covers opportunities for international cooperation in marine sectors, maritime infrastructure development, and maritime security. Blue economy diplomacy can also promote the integration of blue economy issues into the global agenda while supporting maritime development and Indonesia’s vision as a global maritime fulcrum. Strengthening blue economy diplomacy is therefore expected to contribute to sustainable development and enhance Indonesia’s economic resilience.
