Anticipating the Uncertainty of Presidential Election and National Economic Performance: a Scenario planning of Indonesia’s Foreign Policy Direction in 2030
A country’s foreign policy is influenced by various domestic factors, particularly changes in national leadership that may bring continuity or shifts in policy direction and priorities. In Indonesia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to anticipate these changes to ensure that foreign policy remains responsive to national political and economic dynamics. This paper aims to analyze changes in Indonesia’s foreign policy priorities in the past, present, and future, while formulating policy recommendations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It employs the *scenario planning* methodology, using changes in national leadership and economic growth as key factors to develop possible scenarios for Indonesia’s foreign policy direction through 2030. This timeframe is significant because Indonesia is projected to strengthen its position in the global economy, potentially supporting the achievement of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.
