Developing Indonesian global logistic hubs in Greece as the gateway to Central Eastern European and Mediterranean market
This paper analyzes the potential of developing an Indonesian Global Logistics Hub (GLH) in Greece, particularly at the Port of Piraeus, as a gateway to Central and Eastern European and Mediterranean markets. Based on literature review and scenario planning analysis, Piraeus offers several competitive advantages: shorter shipping times from Asia including Indonesia, high efficiency in customs clearance and port administration, low transshipment costs, high-speed rail connectivity to Central and Eastern European countries, maritime connectivity to Mediterranean countries, and Free Zone facilities offering customs and tax benefits. This strategy aims to strengthen Indonesia’s export performance through more efficient and diversified global distribution.
