Turning data into actionable insights for economic recovery: utilization of market intelligence conducted by the Indonesian missions in Asia – Pacific and Africa region
This policy paper examines the effectiveness of market intelligence conducted by Indonesian diplomatic missions in the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions in supporting economic diplomacy and strategic decision-making. Although market intelligence provides valuable insights into market opportunities and economic policies, its implementation remains largely routine, with limited information dissemination, overlapping activities, and insufficient interagency coordination. Using scenario planning, the paper explores ways to optimise data collection, analysis, and dissemination to transform market intelligence into actionable insights. It recommends strengthening institutional coordination and information-sharing mechanisms to support more anticipatory, adaptive, and agile Indonesian diplomacy.
