Cutting through the noise: what to say so more investors will listen
This policy paper examines the use of nation branding as a strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s ability to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) amid declining global investment and intensifying competition among countries. Despite its economic potential, Indonesia has faced challenges in attracting FDI compared with other ASEAN members, partly due to the limited integration of branding into its investment promotion strategy. The paper analyses branding as a source of competitive advantage, identifies the risks of failing to differentiate Indonesia from competing investment destinations, and proposes a branding concept to enhance the country’s investment image. It aims to help Indonesia attract greater investor attention and improve its competitiveness in the global FDI market.v
