Revamping Indonesia’s strategy in gaining Russian outbound tourists during covid-19 pandemic: A Comparative Case among ASEAN Countries
This paper examines strategies to increase the number of Russian tourists visiting Indonesia following the significant decline in tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite Russia’s potential as a key source market, Indonesia faces strong competition from other Southeast Asian destinations, particularly Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Through comparative analysis, the paper explores effective approaches to attracting Russian tourists and highlights the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Mission in Moscow in conducting market intelligence, strengthening interagency coordination, and developing targeted tourism promotion strategies. These efforts aim to improve Indonesia’s competitiveness and increase its share of the Russian outbound tourism market.
