Building A Strategic Corporate Communication of MoFA Indonesia for More Impactful Public Diplomacy
The implementation of performance-based policies and public accountability is essential to improving the institutional performance of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), as outlined in its 2020–2024 Strategic Plan. Focusing on the infrastructure of diplomacy within the framework of the 4+1 foreign policy priorities, this paper examines the relevance of MoFA Indonesia’s organizational structure in addressing communication challenges amid rapid developments in information technology. Drawing on corporate communication theories related to organizational management, the analysis evaluates the implementation of communication management within the Ministry and its contribution to public diplomacy. The paper emphasizes the importance of developing strategic corporate communication to strengthen engagement with diverse stakeholders, increase public awareness of Indonesia’s foreign policy, and enhance public support for diplomatic initiatives. It also highlights the need to improve the Ministry’s accessibility and establish its position as a credible primary source of information on Indonesia’s foreign policy. Strategic and coordinated communication management is expected to foster a shared institutional understanding of public diplomacy and strengthen the effectiveness of Indonesia’s diplomatic engagement with the public.
