Relocating Indonesian Migrant worker in Sabah to North Kalimantan to Break Their Structural Poverty
This study examines the challenges faced by Indonesian migrant workers in Sabah, Malaysia, focusing on their vulnerability to exploitation and structural poverty. It analyzes five economic indicators: palm oil prices, competition between Indonesia and Malaysia in the palm oil industry, the palm oil sector in North Kalimantan, labor demand, and minimum wages. The findings highlight the need for comprehensive policies to protect Indonesian migrant workers. The study recommends relocating workers from Sabah to North Kalimantan to improve their welfare and reduce structural poverty.
