The Impact of Working from Home Implementation to Employee Motivation in The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to implement Work From Home (WFH) as a new working arrangement. This study examines the impact of WFH on employee motivation through a survey of 211 MOFA employees in Indonesia. The results show that WFH improved motivation for 68.7% of respondents, primarily due to work flexibility and reduced commuting time. However, increased workload and an unsuitable work environment negatively affected motivation. The study recommends adopting a flexible hybrid working model based on a bottom-up approach, considering employees’ needs and job characteristics, while strengthening performance evaluation and organizational resilience to prepare for future crises.
