Strengthening the Role of Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Recovery of Tourism Sector Amid Covid-19

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted Indonesia’s tourism sector, resulting in a decline in international and domestic travel, foreign exchange earnings, and nearly one million tourism-related jobs lost. Although the Indonesian Government has implemented various recovery policies, challenges remain, including the ongoing pandemic, coordination issues, and inadequate tourism promotion. This paper examines the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian diplomatic missions abroad in supporting tourism recovery through enhanced international cooperation, strategic promotion, and practical policy recommendations.
