Harnessing artificial intelligence for enhanced public diplomacy

The development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has created challenges in delivering public diplomacy messages due to the increasing volume of content and the growing number of actors across social and mainstream media. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers potential support for addressing these challenges, particularly through natural language processing and generative AI. The use of AI in public diplomacy requires integration into policymaking, supported by appropriate infrastructure, budgets, and human resource development. In the short term, selected AI features can assist policymaking, while long-term development requires continued adaptation to technological advances to strengthen the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ capacity and competitive position in contemporary diplomacy.
