Addressing the issue of Papua through promoting engagement with the Pacific young climate leaders alliance

Indonesia needs to strengthen engagement with Pacific youth by providing reliable information on Papua and using Pacific-established mechanisms to build positive relations. This paper proposes utilizing the Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General’s Young Climate Leaders Alliance (PIF SG’s YCLA) through discussion groups, participatory workshops, surveys, interviews, project assistance, and youth camps focused on climate change. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is positioned as the focal point, supported by civil society and Indonesian youth, particularly from eastern Indonesia, to facilitate communication and cooperation with Pacific communities on youth and climate issues.
