Investolink Dashboard Development: towards Data-driven Economic Diplomacy

In line with the growing trend of data utilization in organizations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, since 2021, been developing an investment and economic data recording and monitoring dashboard known as Dashboard Investolink, intended as a supporting tool for economic diplomacy and the implementation of Permenlu Number 10 of 2022 concerning the Protection, Facilitation, and Recording of Indonesian Investments. As a pilot project for data driven policy making, Investolink is designed to support economic diplomacy infrastructure and serve as the primary database and communication tool for the Ministry and Indonesian Representatives abroad in monitoring inbound and outbound investments, with the long term aim of becoming a data hub for economic diplomacy and a centre for data analytics platforms. However, its development has yet to fulfill expectations of being a user friendly and impactful dashboard. This paper analyzes the current situation through a SWOT analysis and proposes possibilities for developing Investolink as a data hub for economic diplomacy, offering several recommendations structured into short term and long term phases to systematically support its development.
