Optimizing the effectiveness of cultural performanceas Indonesian soft power diplomacy
Cultural performance can serve as a strategic instrument of Indonesia’s soft power and cultural diplomacy by promoting national values, traditions, and cultural heritage internationally. Indonesia’s diverse cultural assets provide opportunities to strengthen international relations and advance national interests through cultural exchanges and performances. The study examines the role and effectiveness of cultural performance in diplomacy by considering case examples, audience targeting, message framing, and strategic partnerships. It also highlights the need for stronger institutional support, including the development of Indonesia’s arts ecosystem, the revitalization of the Foreign Policy Communication Forum (FKKLN), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ leadership in promoting cultural diplomacy. Effective use of cultural performance can strengthen Indonesia’s global cultural presence and support its diplomatic objectives.
