Empowerment of spouses of female Diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia
Empowering spouses of female diplomats can strengthen gender-inclusive policies and support the effectiveness of Indonesian diplomatic missions abroad. As the number of female diplomats increases, male spouses accompanying them face limited institutional support compared with spouses of male diplomats. This Study proposes tailored orientation, capacity-building programs, and inclusive mechanisms to support male spouses in their roles at overseas missions. These measures can promote gender mainstreaming, enable spouses to contribute as informal bridges between cultures, and enhance the well-being and effectiveness of diplomats and their families.
