Enhancing healthcare industry collaboration with Cuba Post-COVID Era: Opportunities and challenges for Indonesia

Indonesia’s healthcare industry has opportunities to expand collaboration with Cuba and Caribbean countries in the post-COVID-19 era. Cuba’s established medical expertise and the Caribbean’s reliance on external healthcare solutions create opportunities for knowledge sharing, investment, joint ventures, and capacity building. However, political and economic challenges may hinder the development of sustainable partnerships. This paper proposes strengthening bilateral healthcare cooperation with Cuba, developing tailored partnerships with Caribbean countries, encouraging private-sector involvement, and prioritizing regional capacity building. These efforts could support healthcare development in the Caribbean while strengthening Indonesia’s international cooperation and presence in the region.
