Riding the momentum: Leveraging artificial intelligence in foreign policy formulation

This study examines the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen Indonesia’s foreign policy formulation through data-driven analysis and decision-making. While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advanced digital diplomacy, AI integration into policymaking remains limited by manual data management. The study recommends a strategic roadmap supported by a legal framework, centralized data management, specialized analysts, and partnerships with AI providers. The integration of AI tools for data processing, human resources, consular services, and predictive analysis could improve the Ministry’s efficiency, responsiveness, and policy decision-making.
