Strengthening the Role of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in achieving food security
The study examines the role of Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in strengthening national food security through international cooperation and diplomacy. The study using a SWOT analysis, the study identifies key internal and external factors influencing MoFA’s contribution to food security. Indonesia’s active participation in international forums represents a key strength, while limited strategic prioritization and resources remain major weaknesses. Opportunities arise from the alignment of food security with national development priorities and the development of economic diplomacy. Meanwhile, climate change, global food price volatility, and geopolitical instability pose significant threats. The study recommends strengthening food security-oriented foreign policy, investing in agricultural infrastructure and technology, diversifying food sources, expanding international agricultural research partnerships, and enhancing diplomatic engagement in global food security forums. These strategies can strengthen MoFA’s contribution to Indonesia’s food security while supporting broader economic and social development goals.
