Indonesia's strategy to secure the UN Council Non-Permanent seat for the period of 2029-2030
Indonesia’s strategy for securing a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2029–2030 requires stronger international visibility and strategic coalition-building. The proposed approach emphasizes promoting UN reform, seeking support from ASEAN, BRICS, and the OIC, and providing capacity-building programs to strengthen engagement with member states. Indonesia can also develop targeted bilateral negotiations where necessary. A coordinated national roadmap led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would help align domestic stakeholders and diplomatic efforts, strengthening Indonesia’s campaign and its role in global diplomacy.
