Cultivating cooperation: A strategic framework for Indonesia – Africa agricultural partnerships
This paper proposes a strategic framework to strengthen agricultural partnerships between Indonesia and Africa. Relations between both regions are rooted in the 1955 Asian–African Conference and sustained through South–South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), knowledge exchange, and capacity building. Although Indonesia brings agricultural expertise and Africa offers vast fertile lands and growing food demand, past initiatives have been sporadic and lacked sustainability, including Indonesia's two agricultural training centres in Gambia and Tanzania. Drawing on comparative analysis of agricultural cooperation models implemented by China, Japan, and Turkey, the paper recommends a more structured approach to enhance the impact and sustainability of Indonesia–Africa agricultural partnerships.
