Consolidate and connect: Building the knowledge foundation for AI-Augmented Multilateral Diplomacy in the Directorate General of Multilateral Cooperation

This paper discusses strengthening knowledge management at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through digital transformation and the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the efficiency of diplomatic operations. Challenges include the dispersal of documents across various locations, the loss of institutional knowledge due to staff rotation, and the absence of an integrated, easily searchable database. The study recommends developing an AI-enabled Knowledge Repository using a Consolidate and Connect approach, which integrates knowledge assets into a centralized system and links them to the Ministry's AI and Intelligence Dashboard. Key measures include mapping document repositories, digital systems, and knowledge assets, as well as constructing a Knowledge Landscape. This initiative is expected to strengthen knowledge management, support decision-making, and enhance the efficiency of Indonesian diplomacy.
